Davson ~ towards harmony

15 November 2010 to 17 February 2011

Davson ~ towards harmony opened on 17 November 2010 as a feature of the Davson Arts Museum's end of year festive-season events. Brad Franks, Arts Centre Manager, Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre in Muswellbrook, NSW, attended as Guest Speaker. Many of the exhibited art works are on loan from the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre collection, which owns 23 works on paper by Sharon Davson.

This exhibition offers a rare opportunity for Newcastle residents and visitors to view Davson’s iconic painting Turning Point .

Commissioned by the Hon. Pat Farmer ten years ago, Turning Point represents the flagship image for his incredible Pole to Pole runand Davson’s sponsorship involvement.

Davson - towards harmony also features a selection of paintings from the With Gratitude series, on loan from various collectors. These are the art works that first inspired Pat Farmer to commission Davson with creating Turning Point in 2000.

The majority of exhibition pieces are from the permanent public collection of the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre in Muswellbrook, New South Wales. The 23 works by Sharon Davson were created between 1972 and 2010. They include drawings, original silk-screen prints, etchings, mono prints and spatter works from early in the artist's career, as well a woven pieces and preliminary concept drawings.
