Reknowned Australian poet Celia Berrell
arrived in Newcastle. She is staying with her long-time friend Sharon Davson for 10 days and updated texts concerning Davson's biography.

Bon voyage! and all the best
the Honourable Pat Farmer left Australia to-day flying to New York, USA. He will train there in the winter snow for the next few weeks, before heading for Canada then onto the North Pole to begin his record making run.

Distinguished gallery visitor
Mrs Win Davson MBE FTCL AASA, Founder / Director of the Win Davson Art Gallery & Museum, Gatton Mercury Theatre and Mercury Children's & Youth Theatre, and the Ian Fairweather Art Gallery & Museum visted the gallery for an extended stay.

Davson ~ towards harmony
held its official gallery function, and Davson Arts Museum's end of year festive season event with special guest Brad Franks, Arts Centre Manager, Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre in Muswellbrook, NSW.

 

The painting Turning Point is displayed with this exhibition. This is very likely to be the only time this valuable painting by Sharon Davson, commissioned by and created for the Hon. Pat Farmer, is shown in Newcastle.

Also currently showing in the Davson Arts Museum green gallery is the wonderful world of Fungai, a rare large-scale photographic exhibition consisting of 35 images of unusual fungi in the Newcastle region by Greg Heathcote.

With the hand-over of a sizeable cheque from the sale of art to the Hon. Pat Farmer, Sharon Davson cemented her sponsorship of the Pole to Pole run. This had been in process since late February / early March, thus Davson is the FIRST artist in world history to Sponsor an international sporting event.

She is now a significant sponsor of Pat Farmer's Pole to Pole run down the west coast of the Americas, through 14 countries during 2011 - 2012.

This extraordinary sporting event will be the FIRST time anyone has run from the North Pole to the South Pole, and is likely to raise about $100 million for Red Cross clean water projects.

Sharon Davson was in Penola in South Australia helping Janice Nitschke (in her role with the Wattle Range Tourism) prepare for, and host, official functions for the dignitaries attending the festivities for Canonisation of Mary McKillop, Australia's first Saint.

Multi-faith Concert
The Multi-faith Association of Newcastle & the Hunter Region, of which Sharon Davson has been a founding member and patron since 2003, held it’s annual concert in the Newcastle City Hall as part of the Matara Festival. Congratulations are extended to Davson Arts Museum Committee of Management member Tom Jones, Founder and Secretary for the Multi-faith Association of Newcastle & the Hunter Region, and all those who assisted at and performed in this year's multi-faith concert.

Further Celebrations
Congratulations also to Anoosiya Arunasalam, her family and all members of the Sukyo Mahikari organisation on the inauguration of Goshintai contributing to the spiritual elevation of the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle region.

 

And Happy Birthday to Davson Arts Museum Committee of Management member Jill Heffernan celebrating her 80th birthday to-day.

Davson ~ a long journey
held its official function in the Davson Arts Museum with special guest Janice Nitschke, Director, Millicent Art Gallery in Millicent, SA.

 

The 21 works of art by Sharon Davson comprising this exhibition were borrowed from the permanent collection of the Millicent Art Gallery.

Supporting this main exhibition was a display of photographs be Wangi Wangi photographer, Robert West; as well as selected works from the Davson Arts Museum permanent collection.

Davson sits for portrait artist John Murden
Sharon Davson had been invited John Murden to do a sitting and photography session as he desired to create her portrait for a possible entry in to the Archibald Prize. The sitting took place in the artist's Brisbane studion.

Mrs Christine Davson-Galle , Sharon's sister is the first member of the Davson family to visit the gallery since it was officially opened in February. Christine had come up from Tasmania.

Parton, the Honourable Pat Farmer MP
gave his Valadictory Speech in Parliament House, Canberra. Pat has retired from Federal Politics to undertake the longest run in history thus far. He plans to run the full length of the American continents in 2011-12. Sharon Davson was in Parliament that evening to hear his speech and give her support to his Pole to Pole Run. She is working with Pat to be a very significant Sponsor. (see also 7 March 2010 entry.)

World Leaders & Enlightenment in South Australia
This major retrospective touring exhibition of Sharon Davson's art is currently showing in the Millicent Art Gallery in Millicent, South Australia. The exhibition, under the direction of Gallery Director Janice Nischke, was officially opened this evening by the Wattle Range Council Mayor Mark Braes.

 

Sharon drove down to Millicent a few days ahead of the opening and assisted with the preparations for the exhibition. She will return to Millicent for the closing of the exhibition.

Congratulations and Happy First Birthday
to the Davson Arts Museum peace & environment centre. One year ago to-day, the first meeting was held with the new Committee of Management to consolidate the vision of Davson arts, peace and Earth centres in this and other countries. Thank you to everyone for your faith and support. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.

Davson to be the first artist ever to sponsor of an international sporting event.

 

Last month, our Patron the Hon. Pat Farmer contacted Sharon Davson requesting her help for his upcoming world record Pole to Pole run from one polar ice cap to the other, 21,000 kilometres through 14 countries. His run is likely to raise approximately $100 million for Red Cross clean water projects.

To-day, Sharon met with Pat's Sponsorship Manager and agreed to make very significant sums of money available from the sale of several works of art, assist in the marketing of these, etc., and thereby become the first artist ever to sponsor and international sporting event.

It's time to get those running shoes on!!

was a sumptuous feast for body and soul following the Parliament of the World's Religions in Melbourne.

This inspirational event was hosted by Sharon Davson and the Davson Arts Museum, and held in conjunction with the Multi-faith Association of Newcastle & Hunter Region.

After many years of friendship and mutual support of each other's work, Janice Nitschke, Director of the Millicent Art Gallery in South Australia, excitedly accepted a gift from Sharon Davson of a body of her art establishing a collection of Davson art in their permanent collection.

Brad Franks, Arts Centre Manager of the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, accepted a gift from Sharon Davson of a body of art works to expand their existing collection of her art in their permanent collection.

Several members of the Davson Arts Museum committee travelled to Queensland to be present at the opening festivities for the new Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre. Sharon Davson's multi-million dollar retrospective touring exhibition, Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment, was the centre's inaugural exhibition.

Pat has now accepted to be a Patron of the Davson Arts Museum peace and environment centre. He continues his Patronage of the Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment exhibition, and has a message by him included at the front of the current art catalogue for this exhibition.

And the winner is...
Sharlotte Ventor from West Wyalong, NSW, won the painting Winning Combinations by Sharon Davson which included an original autographed handprint by Sir Jack Brabham - Formula One World Champion.

This was a Davson Arts Museum joint promotion with other charitable organisations
on the Davson World site.

who has been a long time supporter and Patron of Davson's creative and charitable activities, has just accepted to be the first Patron of the Davson Arts Museum peace and environment centre. Launch of the Davson World Give-Away
Davson World has launched a promotion for a valuable Sharon Davson painting that includes original and unique Sir Jack Brabham - Formula One World Champion memorabilia.

In association with WIRES - NSW Wildlife Information & Rescue Service, Nature Conservation Council of NSW, National Parks Association of NSW and other worthy not-for-profit organisations have created 5 beautiful and thought-provoking e-greeting cards.

With every purchase, customers go in our Give-Away draw to WIN a unique work of art by Sharon Davson. This beautifully framed work will incorporate an original autographed handprint by legendary Formula One World Champion Sir Jack Brabham. This Give-Away will be drawn on 27 July 2009 AEST.

The major retrospective exhibition of Sharon Davson’s art, Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment as officially opened by Stanthorpe Mayor, Councillor Glen Rogers, in the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery in Queensland.

The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery had previously celebrated the opening exhibition of Davson’s first major retrospective exhibition, With Gratitude For The Light in 1999, which then toured for three years.

2007, 10 January

Over 22,000 people
viewed the Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment exhibition in the award winning Hunter Valley Gardens in Pokolbin, NSW.

The exhibition, which had among its special guests at its opening on 5 October 2006 singer song-writer Leo Sayer and Cessnock Mayor John Clarence, came to a close to-day.

Singer song-writer Leo Sayer and Cessnock Mayor John Clarence
officially opened the 1st preview exhibition of 20 selected works from the Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment collection. It was displayed in the award winning Hunter Valley Gardens in Pokolbin, NSW.

This preview event included the first public exposure of the planned book publications of Davson’s art with poetry by Celia Berrell.

2004, 21 November

Davson Arts Museum
The 48 Hours Toward World Peace charity held its Annual General Meeting and passed by a unanimous resolution of its members to start and arts, peace and Earth centre to be known as the Davson Arts Museum peace & environment centre.

At Motomitamaza in Japan,
and on behalf of the Australia-Oceania Region of Sukyo Mahikari, Dr Andris Tebecis presented Davson's oil painting Seeds of Gratitude to Oshienushisama.

1992, 14 April

Davson starts the Hands Up initiative
inviting people to participate and donate their handprints. Singing legend Neil Diamond is the first to have his hand painted by Davson. The event is broadcast on national television.

1990, October

Davson starts Artists For Life endangered species initiative.
